Abstract
Georg Lukacs is one of the most important figures of the twentieth century intellectual and literary life. Thoughts, works, and the variety of his intellectual positions are generally influenced by the difficult political climate of those years. This has made it difficult to evaluate his works. Lukacs's literary criticism is strongly influenced by his Marxist approach. Accordingly, the present paper seeks to answer the question of what place politics had in the theory of art and literary criticism? By preparing and defending critical realism, Lukacs transforms the literary school into a political critique of modern society and literary works. The present study, while examining the period of ups and downs in intellectual life and distinguishing the period of "Young Lukacs" and "Late Lukacs", uses political critique to show how the social and political conditions caused the proletariat to replace the novelist and then the necessity of revolution instead of the literary work. This article is a descriptive-analytical one based on Lukács's works.
