Abstract
Gothic in literature is attributed to the style of late 18th and early 19th century European storytelling. Its major elements are fears, illusions, dreadful places, the overcoming patriarchal thoughts, oppressed woman victim, gothic monster, nocturnal events and silence, .. Mary Shelley is one of the writers who has tried to employ the main features of the school in the creation of the Frankenstein monster novel. Iranian writers under the influence of this school produced a variety of works. Houshang Golshiri is one of the practitioners this school who wrote the story of Masom-e-Aval (the First Innocent). Both novels of Frankenstein Monster and The First Innocent are Gothic stories that are in many ways comparable (comparison and contrast) to each other. The present research aims to study these two works via a comparative-analytic method. The research findings show that Golshiri wrote the story of The First Innocent under the influence of the central theme of the creator's death by the creature in Frankenstein Monster, and both works were formed on this basis. However, Golshiri thanks to his own imagination and creativity replaced some of stereotypical frameworks in western Gothic with some of cultural and local features.
